What Is The Tesla Energy Plan Tariff?

By signing up to The Tesla Energy Plan, you'll join Tesla's UK Virtual Power Plant, whereby your Powerwall will be connected to a network of homes across the UK, supporting the stability of the electricity grid and allowing you access to the most competitive energy rates in the market.

What Are The Main Benefits Of The Tesla Energy Plan Tariff?

By joining Tesla's UK Virtual Power Plant you can supply your home and EV with 100% clean energy, cut your electricity bills, support the grid but rely less on it, and protect your home from power cuts.

What Is The Tariff Under The Tesla Energy Plan?

The Tesla Energy Plan is a symmetrical tariff in that the rates are the same for both importing and exporting electricity. Prices are set at 24p to 26p per kWh depending on your location. There is a standing charge of 45p per day.

Do I Require A Smart Meter For The Tesla Energy Plan Tariff?

Yes. The Tesla Energy Plan involves import and export tariffs, so you require a compatible SMETS1 'Secure' branded smart meter or a SMETS2 smart meter. If you don't already have a smart meter, Octopus will install one at no cost, subject to availability.

What Else Do I Need To Know About The Tesla Energy Plan Tariff?

In addition to a compatible smart meter, you'll need one or more Tesla Powerwall 2 batteries and an MCS-certified solar panel installation of any size, up to 9 kWp per Powerwall installed. Your electricity supply also has to be residential, with daytime consumption (7am to 7:30pm) less than 9,500 kWh per year, per installed Powerwall. You can't receive both Feed-In Tariff export payments and Tesla export payments at the same time.
